Cacao 70

Located around MacEwan University, this small but cozy eatery is here to please your taste buds.

Easily commutable but paying for parking, this store is located on the corners of Ice District (behind a bunch of construction).

Upon entering there is a colourful atmosphere with cute marble tables and glass panes. The music isn’t too loud so it’s easy for conversation.

They have a brunch menu and a sweets menu that you order up at the front. They will bring the dishes to you!

First up is the classic chocolate crepe for 9.75$. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, it’s a typical crepe dressed in a chocolate of your choice (milk, dark or white) and topped off with powdered sugar. It’s a pretty basic taste, but a go-to if you’re not sure of what to get.

Next up was the Catchamatcha for 15.50$. It is a waffle doused in matcha chocolate with an ice cream cone placed on top along with cheesecake, whip cream, and strawberries. The waffle was very soft, however the taste of the matcha chocolate overpowered everything else. Leaving a very rich sweet taste that we had difficulty finishing.

To drown out the sweetness this is a small water container with lemons to combat the taste with a tangy freshness. However it did not really affect the overpowering sweetness.

Overall this place would not be your ideal place for a dessert lunch. However, if you’re looking for something sweet and gram-worthy, this is the place for you!
